Dating for Single Dads

February 13th, 2010 Owen Jones No comments

Are you a divorced dad? So what? As long as dating for single dads is easy! Can a divorced Dad be a great father? Perhaps a divorced guy should also ask: “Why not?” Just because you’re not divorced, it does not mean that you are not a great father. It’s really such a pity that our society considers someone as a dead beat parent just because he’s divorced. There are a lot of wonderful divorced fathers out there and you can learn a lot from them.

Understanding it. You have got to realise that children suffer a great deal from the consequences of having only one parent. It could have from irate parents, from separation anxiety or any number of things: it’s a tough world out there for children whose parents are divorced, getting divorced, or who are just single.

Keeping up appearances for the kids need sacrifice. Usually, both mother and father have to be able to set aside their differences long enough to inspect the damage that they have both done to their children. However, more often than not, parents get so engrossed with their emotional pain that they fail to notice that their children suffer even more than they do.

If you are a single parent this is even more difficult. Dating for Dads and dating for mothers is the answer – don’t rush into things, but children need two parents and when you’re ready, you should get another partner.

Investigations show that when both parents make a deliberate effort to stay friendly to each other, then they will have more successful and stable children. What else do you need to know? Kids require a parent of each sex. Never think that dating for single dads or single mother is out of the question. In fact, it is important for the children. But you knew that already, didn’t you?

Study: To make the importance of a father being close to his children more obvious, the State University of Arizona conducted a study of college students whose parents were divorced. The researchers observed personality, emotional and mental maturity, health, and even interest in school and success. The researchers found evidence that supports the idea that whichever parent had primary custody, it is certain that children need access to adults of both sexes. Widow(er)s need to get back into society for the sake of their children and the, selves.

Results: The findings are very surprising. statistics quite clearly show that kids who have only one parent have healthier and more mature relationships than their parents and make a conscious effort of keeping their family together.

Just over 60% of the children involved in the study asserted that their mother or, whoever had primary custodianship over them, moved them at least an hour’s drive away from where the other parent lived. The students were particularly worried about getting caught in the crossfire. Furthermore, when they stayed with one parent, future financial help (like for school or college) lessened. For example, if they stayed with Dad, Mum gave less when college came, and vice versa. So, the fact is that the 1 hour distance between them already had a negative effect on the children.

There will be emotional disturbance, it cannot really be prevented, but upon closer inspection of the children involved, it was clearly shown that those whose parents stayed close to them had a better emotional disposition and a better mentally too.

Results: so, in a nut-shell, the case study demonstrates that divorce does affect the kids. The way the parents treat each other and the distance they live apart does have a very significant impact that could tip the scales as to whether a child succeeds or not. It is difficult to make friends with an ex-wife after all that has transpired, but it will be even more difficult for you as a divorced or separated Dad, when you see your children suffer from the consequences of your decisions.

As a single Dad, it is really up to you. You owe it to yourself and to your children to make first step to keeping close to your children.

Vacation Rental Homes, Are They A Good Idea?

February 12th, 2010 Owen Jones No comments

Many people that go on vacation prefer to rent a home in their destination rather than staying in a hotel. Most of these people do this because it gives them the freedom to cook their own food and eat out when they like without missing set meals that they have already paid for.

It can be more difficult to find such a vacation rental than just booking a hotel reservation. However, most holiday makers say that the endeavor is worthwhile. There are a few points that you should check up on if you are not to be disappointed when you get there.

It is very useful if you have friends or family living in the destination locale and if you do have this advantage, you should use it, but all is far from lost if you do not. There are often agencies for these kinds of vacation rentals as many people who live in such places rent their homes out in the peak period and they do this through those agencies.

There are also quite a few web sites specializing in home rentals for holiday purposes. Some of these Internet agencies just charge on behalf of the property owner and others can arrange swaps, which is a great, low-priced way to travel the world.

The surveys that these web sites carry out are usually quite comprehensive, containing such expected details as the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, but also such information as whether there is a phone, a car, bicycles or scooters on the premises, along with distance to the shops, main road, airport, train and bus stations.

However, if you have any questions still unanswered, you are usually encouraged to ask them directly to the property owner via the agency’s web site. It is a good idea to rent a vacation home through a rental agency for security purposes, because if a problem does arise then you have a mediator on hand. In these situations the agency would handle the whole affair, up to the point of criminal proceedings.

You may also like to ask about the age of the property, because often the day to day maintenance of the place is down to you while you are there, as are breakages, unless those things are covered by the owner’s insurance policy.

You should also find out whether you are allowed to make use of the home owner’s bedding, linen, and towels etc.. Often you just consider the house and its contents as your own, unles a cupboard or door is locked and you have not been given the key.

One last bit of advice is to get suitable directions. Places that you are not well-known will look very different in the dark than they do in the daylight, in particular if the property is off the beaten track.

Therefore, if you are expecting to arrive late or if there is a possibility that you might be held up, ask for photographs of key points taken in the twighlight. It will make certain that you get to your destination vacation home rental with no difficulties.

The Ancient Roots of Barry, South Wales: Part 2.

February 10th, 2010 Owen Jones No comments

In the 18th. Century evidence of Neolithic man was discovered in the form of dishes, saws, knives, flints, a scraper, a prehistoric horn celt with obscure markings, a spokeshave and some arrowheads, amongst other things. Unfortunately, although these things reside safely in the Museum of Cardiff, no one thought it worth excavating at the time and now residences stand on the sites.

They also found an ancient Roman kitchen complete with utensils and food remains which appeared to have been abandoned in a hurry like the Marie Celeste. That wasn’t investigated either. In 1533, the King’s Antiquary, Leland, was told to tour all places where records were held. It took him nine years and his description of the island was as follows:

“It is about a mile in circumference and has good corn, grass and some wood, and there is no dwelling on the Island, but in the midst of it is a fair little Chapel of St. Baruch which is visited by many pilgrims. It took the name Barri from this holy man who was buried there and whose remains are yet on the Island”. (The Welsh name for Barry is Y Barri).

Vikings ravaged the coast of South Wales in the tenth century. They often took hostages from the monasteries, but they did not seem to want to live in the area. For a long tim, the island was known as the “Saints’ Retreat” or the “Island of Saints”. Afterwards, in the sixteenth century, it was inhabited by smugglers and pirates and was called the “Smugglers’ Fortress”. This became serious as it grew simultaneously with the rise of Bristol, Britain’s second largest port.

Barry Island became the centre of piracy in the Bristol Channel. In 1784, the island was known as the Fortress of Knight. Knight was the top smuggler and pirate in the area and people were frightened of testifying against him, although he was also something of a local hero. His armed brig’s name was John O’ Combe. He was eventually moved on to Lundy Island, which he also turned into a fortress, although he and his successor, Arthur, still returned so often to Barry, that H.M. Customs requested the government to permanently post a cutter to Penarth and 60 light infantry to Barry.

The small seaside village of Rhoose, five miles from Barry, was so well-known for its wreckers that George II sent troops to break up them up. They landed at Aberthaw, just up the coast a bit further, “the Rhoose men’s favourite landing zone, from where they could easily transport the contraband along Port Road to Cardiff, the main market for such things”. While digging out for the docks at Barry in the late nineteenth century, several large caves were filled in. They had probably been used by the pirates who were moved on in about 1850.

Wedding Favours For Your Guests

February 9th, 2010 Owen Jones No comments

There are many presents that can be used as wedding favours, after all the point of wedding favours is to illustrate to your guests that you appreciate them coming to your wedding and showing their support for your wedding. Therefore, you should really try to find wedding favors, that your guests will like.

Naturally, the gift that most appeals to your guests, may not be one you would choose for yourself, but you are buying the wedding favours for your guests, not yourself. If you think about it, you should be able to come up with something that everyone will like and that you are pleased to give. In order to help you get the task done, we will offer you a few tips below.

Love spoons are a popular souvenir at Welsh and other Celtic weddings. A love spoon was a wooden spoon carved by a love sick man for the woman he loved. She would then either take or refuse the love spoon, although she was not obliged by the acceptance of the spoon. Miniature versions are often used as wedding favours. They can be inscribed with dates and names and symbols of love such as a hearts, bells, vines, key holes, anchors and knots.

Wedding favours can also be suitable to eat. There are a lot of choices available for couples who wish to give their guests some type of edible favour. You can have many items personalized these days. Some firms specialize in personalized presents, which can also be given as wedding favours. Some examples of edible, personalized wedding favours might be: chocolate bars, mints, biscuits or gourmet chocolates. The box or wrapper could bear your photo or / and your names and the date.

Miniature wedding cakes are another idea for edible wedding favours. Miniature wedding cakes have a short shelf life so they will have to include a warning, which will in all probability be put on the wrapper automatically, but it is worth checking.

A half / quarter or small bottle of wine or other drink would also be fairly easy to arrange as wine bottle labels can be bought in any home brew shop.

Picture frames are frequent wedding favors. You could give a picture frame and follow it up with a photo of the beneficiary of the frame enjoying your wedding party. This might be expensive and tricky to set up as you will have to keep records of who has been photographed and who has not. It would be terrible to miss someone out, would it not? You will probably also need a professional photographer or at least a dedicated amateur.

Wedding favours can be anything really, but I reckon that they are better if they are practical. We gave very unusual bottle-openers away at our wedding. They had a pattern of a couple getting married, our names and the date. They also had a magnet in them to catch the bottle top as it came off. I have seen dozens of our bottle-openers stuck on our guests’ fridges over the years and the wedding was three years ago.

The Ancient Roots of Barry, South Wales: Part 1.

January 28th, 2010 Owen Jones No comments

The majority of what we have come to know about Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan in which it is to be found, has been gathered from the observation of old properties in the area. However, many of these are in a very bad state and have been for a very long time. There are also legendary tales like the one about Joseph of Arimathea, who traded tin across the channel in Glastonbury and was one of the first missionaries to the country.

Tradition maintains that the father of Caractacus took his son to Rome and was converted to Christianity. They returned to the Vale of Glamorgan with the missionary Bran the Blessed. We do know that Christianity had become fairly popular by the early 4th. Century and that south Wales sent some bishops to the Council of Rome.

Saint Baruch’s Church on Barry Island is one of the oldest places of historic religious interest in the region, but unfortunately, it too has been allowed to become dilapidated. Barry Island was one of the most important places of monastic interest in south Wales and around. The ancient Viking strongholds of Steep and Flat Holms also housed monks and Saint Illtyd’s Seminary in nearby Llantwit Major, which taught 2,200 disciples, was closely linked to it too.

A castle was constructed on the site of an old Roman fort and naval shipyard, which had been on Porthkerry Point, although it protruded further out to sea then than it does now. Furthermore, many wolf and deer bones have been found between Barry and Sully, proving these animals’ existence there in vast numbers Arrowheads, flints, needles and coins show that people inhabited the area with them.

‘The Island’, as it is known locally, was first named Baruch’s Island after St. Baruch, who was found washed up on one its beaches dead in 700 AD. He had been drowned on his return from Flat Holm, where it was common practice for religious students to spend Lent.

He and Gwelches were disciples of Saint Cadoc at that time and on their return to the island, they realized that they had forgotten their enchiridion or religious manual. St. Cadoc made them do back to fetch it. Neither men returned alive. St. Baruch’s most acclaimed student, St. Illtyd was educated there.

Barry Island has had its name changed several times over the centuries. It was once called ‘Island of the Saints’ and ‘Insular of Peiros’, after St. Peiro, who was St. Illtyd’s successor at the seminary at Llantwit Major. He was also St. Samson’s luminary. There was also a St. Doeninas, who was abbot of a nearby abbey on Friars’ Point.

Best Tattoo Designs For Your Body

January 7th, 2010 Mike Lemburg No comments

You know as well as i do that finding some of the best tattoo designs for your body can seem almost impossible. With all the designs out there it takes way too much time and energy searching for the perfect one.

There is nothing wrong with looking at free sites, but the problem is you will begin to notice all these sites show you the same exact tattoo’s. It gets to a point where nothing seems to be original anymore. Don’t be one of the people that makes the huge mistake of settling for a design because you couldn’t find anything better.

If you settle for a tattoo that you don’t think is incredible you will have so much regret. You will have the tattoo for a very long time and because of that you don’t want to ever wake up in the morning thinking “This tattoo is ok”.

If you have started to get frustrated because of the long and annoying search for the best tattoo designs then it is probably time you think about using a tattoo finder tool. This kind of tool is unique from all the free websites and you are almost guaranteed to find a tattoo you like within a few minutes.

A tattoo finder will show you some of the best work by the best tattoo artists in the world. However, in order to get access to this, a small fee will be required. The good news is you will have an incredible tattoo that will leave everyone in awe.

Before you go out and join any site, I want to give you a warning. You will waste some money with some of the tattoo finder websites. If you find a Tattoo tool website that charges your for getting the stencil of the individual tattoo you need to stay away from it. Paying money to get the stencil of one tattoo is not worth it.

Getting a tattoo that is personal is really important. You don’t want something that everybody else has. One thing I always tell people is if they have seen the tattoo on someone then they shouldn’t get it.

International And Inter-racial Dating

January 2nd, 2010 Owen Jones No comments

This piece of writing is about my experiences of international and inter-racial dating. It is simply an account of what I have witnessed and experienced myself over the course of my life so far, although at 55 years old, I am nearer the end of it than the beginning. It is my guidance on dealing with an international or inter-racial relationship.

It all began at an early age when I was in infant school at seven. There was a Filipina girl in our class and I could not take my eyes off her, although I almost certainly did not know much about it then. We parted at eight when they moved closer to another school and I never saw her again.

My next encounter with a foreign girl, was the mademoiselle assistant teacher at school and I was certain that I would marry a French country girl when I grew up. That passed when the German assistant arrived.

When I was fourteen, I went on a school cruise to Leningrad and there was a party of exchange students going home to Sweden on the same ship. I went out with one of them for roughly a week and first noticed the problems that can come from international dating. There was a minor language barrier, but it was fun getting over that. The real problem came, because I had preconceived ideas of what Swedish girls were like, probably instilled in me after years of silly ‘Carry On’ films.

At sixteen, I went to Germany to work for the summer and I found it very easy to get on with the German girls, although they were shyer that I was expecting too. Also an outlook I owed to silly Health and Efficiency ’sex films’.

After concluding university, I moved to The Netherlands to live. It was the seventies and Dutch girls were great. However, I made friends with male British colleagues initially and soon saw some of the problems that can come from an international relationship. Most of the men I knew were typical Brits and made absolutely no effort to learn Dutch at all. To my surprise, many Dutch people could not speak English either, particularly the parents.

This lead to a surprising number of stressful moments in a week and that put a lot of strain on my friends’ relationships. It is so easy to start name-calling when you are angry and it is the worst thing you can do. The Dutch girlfriend or her parents or friends would be called ‘a stupid cheese eater’ or something equally foolish and the relationship was over or in trouble for days. I do not remember what the Dutch called us.

I promised myself there and then never to get serious about a foreign girl because the arguments were just too much. Food was never a problem. Culture was not much of a problem, although where I was in southern Netherlands, most people were Catholic and I am not. This did perplex some parents but not me. Travelling was always going to be the drawback. Do you live by her parents or yours? In particular when children start arriving. Most countries have stronger family ties than Britain.

Then, at 50, having never been married, I went to Thailand, where I met my wife-to-be. Asian culture is very different from British or even European society and it is a real shock to both parties. Anyway, five years into our relationship and we are still fine. I recollect the reasons I gave myself for not marrying abroad when in The Netherlands and I was wrong, but not much.

If you are going to enter into an international or even inter-racial relationship, you had better learn how to control your anger. It is the most important advice you will ever get. Being understanding of other points of view is important too, but not getting angry is more important. Furthermore, you must try to learn something about your partner’s land, background and language, otherwise you cannot join in any discussion your partner may have with someone who does know a bit about it.

I have never seen religion be a problem ever, except in an argument. My wife is Buddhist and I am not. We talk about it, but there is never any stress. Food, again I have never seen a problem in this field. Clothing, again no problem in my life. If you get into an international or inter-racial relationship, keep your temper, do not shout, do not get angry and talk things out calmly.

Custom Tattoo Designs-Find What You Are Looking For

December 29th, 2009 Tom Freeno No comments

If you want to get a tattoo that will make heads turn then you will obviously need a custom tattoo design. I am sure you are already smart enough to know that but believe it or not most people think they can go down to their local tattoo parlor and get a tattoo that is original and unique. Sadly, these kinds of people are the ones who get a tattoo, think they are cool and walk around with their heads held high while other people just sit there and laugh at them.

I am assuming you want to avoid people laughing at your tattoo right? You have already taken the first step by being here at this site. There is no better way to get a custom design then to look on the internet because you will have the whole world giving you advice!

But there is a major problem when looking online for tattoo designs. You will find plenty of sites that have a gallery of tattoos. But most of these free sites only offer 50-100 tattoos to look at and all the free sites seem to show the same types of tattoos. This is bad news for us because think about how many people search the internet for tattoo designs? It has to be a ton of people. I am sure the majority of them chose a design from the site you are looking at.

Another problem is the fact that some sites charge you way to much money. We highly recommend you stay away from the sites that are going to make you pay over 50 dollars to view the whole gallery. There are much better sites you can find that offer thousands of designs for under 40 dollars.

It is crucial that you get a tattoo that has a lot of meaning to you. Although getting a cool tattoo is what we are wanting to do, you will enjoy the tattoo much better if you get one that has a lot of meaning behind it.

Anger Management For Youths

December 29th, 2009 Owen Jones No comments

Anger, which is a perfectly normal emotion, can transform itself into something frightening and ugly. The first impression you may have of anger situations may invoke images of a couple fighting, a parent abusing a child, a teenager lashing out at a teacher or a parent. Rarely will images of angry children come to mind. Unfortunately kids, at very young ages, have to deal with feelings of anger and rage. This is a truth which is often very difficult for adults to understand or cope with.

Children, young children especially, aren’t normally aware of how they feel. When a child becomes upset or mad they simply show these emotions through their behaviour. A good example of this might be a little boy in a supermarket who throws a tantrum because he’s upset. Many parents have had to deal with similar situations. It is unfortunate that often these occurrences are overlooked or dismissed because they are “just children”. Anger management in kids is as important, or perhaps even more important than anger management in adults.

A kid requires instruction and guidance from their coming into the world to their entry into adulthood. The things they learn throughout their young lives are likely to form the person they become as an adult. For this reason, anger management in children with difficulties controlling their temper is extremely important. Finding ways to teach anger management for kids might present challenges.

There are various programmes designed specifically for kids with frustration, anxiety and anger management problems. Discovering one that works for a particular child might require testing many methods. Not all youths will react to the same treatment for anger management for kids. Because a child cannot always relate their feelings surrounding angry outburst, finding the correct way of tackling it could take some time. Until the issue is resolved or at least controlled, it is important to continue looking.

Young children may respond well to worksheets, games and fun activities. All of these can be used to teach anger management for kids. Developing programs which incorporate each of these methods might be the best way to go. A child completing a worksheet, colouring sheet or participating in games and activities with underlying messages regarding anger management for kids, may not even realize they are working on their anger-related problems.

Making the activity fun doesn’t mean that the anger issue has to be left out. Choosing fun activities which teach healthy interaction and decision making might be good for anger management for children. Teaching them to take turns and helping them to learn that they can’t always be the best or the winner would definitely make a difference when confrontational situations arise. Small activities which instill values and positive thinking would be beneficial for anger management for kids.

If a kid is old enough to talk about their anger problem, encouraging them to share their emotions is important. Suggesting they talk to someone who they feel comfortable with and trust is a good idea regarding anger management in children. Asking them to write or make a drawing about their emotions may help them disclose their underlying issues, whether fear, hurt or sadness.

Teaching them to ask for help when they feel threatened or angry would certainly help the child with an anger-related problem. The important thing to realize when considering anger management in children are they are just “kids”. Their minds are just not equipped to handle adult situations and so they will require a more careful approach.

Use a face in the middle of the design. As I am sure you have already noticed, the majority of people just use spirals and lines for their tattoo’s. Have you ever seen one with a face in the middle? If you should consider getting that done.

The next best thing to consider when looking for a Maori tattoo design is the consider the location. Another thing most people do is put these tattoos across their upper arms. There is nothing wrong with that, it’s just people are starting to get use to the trend and it is getting boring.

Putting a little bit of color into the tattoo is another great way to help make it look unique. Although this will be a little more expensive, it is worth the extra cost. Think back to the last Maori tattoo design you saw, I am willing to bet that it was black and white. Am I right?
